A stranger world, full of terrible creatures, a vile creature as a victim … We landed from the ship as soon as the monster was stopped, but he was still ahead of us for half a minute – he scared through the undergrowth.
Trappper said that the beast must be not far from. Turning on rocket satchels, we soared over the trees and, looking around, attacked the trail. In the distance, something frightened the birds ..
Huge jumps we rushed along the trail, trying to save fuel. From afar came a roar. We knew: this means that the beast is growing.
Finally we saw him – a huge lizard -like monster burst through the undergrowth, dropping the remains of the cocoon. Events developed rapidly: at first our doctor fell into a trap, reminiscent of a huge Veninin flyer, then gluttonous monsters emerged from the thicket. I had to fight back. We thought that we had missed the beast, but … it was not there!
Soon we, wounded, overtook it at a broken spaceship. Trappper launched the portable arena and held the prey with a harpoon while the attack aircraft desperately fought with him. Support fighter and a physician also did not sit on the spot. And a minute later the beast lost armor – and we lost the medic and trape. The monster rode back into the jungle, and two surviving people lurked their breath and began to lick wounds and wait for reinforcements. The first skirmish was too expensive for our team.

In the wilds of the alien jungle
Evolve, New game from Turtle Rock, creators Left 4 Dead, It feels like LEFT 4 DeAD at the same time resembles, Dota 2 , World of Warcraft and "stranger". The game is designed for exactly five players: four hunter people and one monster. Whatever abilities, the hunters choose for themselves, the monster, of course, will be stronger – without a competent team game it is not to defeat him. Especially considering that the areas for battles are huge, no less than the largest cards in Battlefield 3.
For people, the game looks like something like Tribes And Borderlands. Hunters are very mobile, and self -healing missile satchels allow you to freely rise higher and quickly evade the blows of an angry monster. In addition, people are quite strong – they are able to withstand a couple of blows of a hefty monster and stay on their feet. And, although they sometimes have to recharge weapons, their ammunition never ends.
In total, the game has four classes – support fighter, physician, attack aircraft and trapper. In each detachment there should be all of them, but options are possible inside the class. Each has one special skill and three personal tools or weapons. And during the game, of course, you can earn and open additional bonuses, such as accelerated reloading or reinforced armor.
The attack aircraft is relatively simple. This is the main combat unit of the detachment, in addition, it has a personal shield that gives five seconds of invulnerability. We had at their disposal an average capacity and range of an automatic machine, a discharge gun – a terrible thing (but only when shooting at point blank range), and anti -tank mines. The attack aircraft has the best chances to survive thanks to the shield and help, which the support fighter and the doctor will most likely provide him.
Everything is relatively clear with the medic. Its special ability is a powerful healing in the area. Our medic had a long-range sniper rifle, quite easily breaking through the armor of the monster, a beargeon and a gun-wrapping gun, slowing down the victim.
But the support fighter-the horse is still dark. Its special ability is a wide range of disguise for the whole team. Our support player had a near -acting shotgun at the disposal, a remotely controlled shield, which can be covered by a teammate or civilian, and a deadly salvo from an orbit (it had to wait a couple of seconds). We acted with him according to the situation: when necessary – defended their own, and scared away (or finished off) monster with volleys.
And finally, the key player in the team is Trape, in fact, the only unique class. Its main work is to restrain the monster, so that the attacks of the trapery are inflicted little damage or do not apply at all. It is useful to others: for example, the ability to launch a special rotating disk that creates a huge impenetrable dome. In addition to everything, the trape has its own personal equipment. Our had a terribly useful harpoon gun – he would pin the monster and holds (while the beast of the harpoon cable will not break). There were also sound sensors – you stick them into the ground, and they detect the monster when it passes by. Arrange a dozen such sensors, and the monster will have to walk on tiptoe.
Purpose of the game: The task of people is simple – to kill the monster. Nothing more than that. And the monster on this map seeks to destroy the protective field generator at the research station in the heart of the jungle – and gobble up the scattering staff.
It’s hard to live without a machine gun
But the game for the monster is a completely different matter. For each hunter, he is a terrible monster, and the hunters for him are bored with two counts, you just need to gape. Get into the portable arena or harpoon – and end like Godzilla in a quagmire, fighting off these jet beetles stinging to death.
We played for the creature called Goliath. Of the Evolve monsters, he is the easiest and most recognizable – a hefty piece of alien meat, armored and rather aggressive. It burns with fire – there is little damage from this, but it plunges into panic. There is still an option to abruptly jump and disorient the enemy, well, or throw stones. Goliath easily covers up to one hundred meters in one jump in the jump.
Goliath and I somehow did not work out right away. If not for the flock of predators, the first skirmish would end deplorable. Barely retaining the skin, our monster crawled literally on his belly and miraculously drove prey to eat.
Food spurs the evolution of the monster. There are animals that have yet to be caught (although the carrion is suitable); There is more meat for larger and stronger production. We ate, filled the scale – look for a quiet corner on the map and climb into the cocoon. At this stage, you can choose an additional ability and become more and stronger. If at the first stage in Goliath there are three meters of growth, then in the second almost seven, and on the third, all ten.
The nutrition of the monster does not heal – damage is irreversible, so we first evolved in bad form. But it was possible to increase the armor, eating more than the evolution requires.
By that time, we had already somained to play and began to use all the advantages of loners. Goliath can “see by smell” – distinguishes hunters and all living creatures near the thicket and even through the walls. Soon, actively taking advantage of supervision and secrecy, we evolved to the third level and decided on a serious act – to destroy the generator installed on a high metal plateau above the base.
However, a little later, the sniper armor -piercing bullet of the medic overtook our Goliath – it did not work out to cope with the management, they won’t take us to climbing. We got to the generator for a very long time, and then also ran into mines, carefully placed by the attack aircraft. Competently covering each other, people fought very deftly.
Walking awkwardly, we met some huge beast and tried to devour it to at least build armor, but … support covered in one gulp right in the middle of the meal, and Game Over came the game.
In general, it turned out to be much easier and more familiar to play for people, although still … there is something beckoning in the game for the monster!

Evolve definitely makes a good impression. Turtle Rock against the backdrop of the beautiful LEFT 4 DeAD is not easy, but at least this time they did without a zombie, which are already tired of the order. Looking at such a variety of environment, characters, monsters and improvements, we can safely say that this is our choice in multiplayer for several months in advance.
